so last night i decided that i really needed to clean up my head lights. they were pretty bad to start out with. i had a kit sitting around from christmass to get it done they really came out great. they almost look new maybe one year old possibly. the light are just super clear now. the kit i used is called crystal view. here is before and half way through will past up a pic of after in a few days.
Looks good. I never tried one of those kits before. Had a problem with my jeep headlights like that and it was so bad that even silverstar headlights look dim in them. Finally just bought new ones off of EBAY. The difference was incredible.
I just sand mine down with 400 gritt sand paper and have my friend buff them out with a high speed buffer and expensive buffing stuff.
yah well ive seen the sand it down i just need to get some time to take an after pic cause they look brand new right now.
Spray them with a good clear coat. That's the only way mine would stay looking good. After a month or two they would haze back over. But my car stayed outside all the time.
thats one of the cool things about the this kit is that it comes with the clear coat to seal the lights.
yah the trick with the kit is to just take your time and act like its a paint job , gotta do all the prep right for the final product to come out right. hardest part abou the camaro head light are the little nubs. there just really hard to get.
I don't want to be a Negative Nancy, but tell me how long that lasts. Those pics look GREAT, but every I try a new restoration kit, they promise it's permanent. They end up coming out looking like what you show in those pictures. The longest one of those restorations lasted before it was back to hazy was 1.5 yrs on my mom's PT Cruiser. The polishes are junk, sanding and clear coating is the best but it doesn't last forever... That's why I started doing those whistler headlight packages I offered a while back. They aren't restored headlights, they're brand new, OEM style headlights with whistler mod or not for $130-150. I've got a set on my B4C, 2 years old and still brand new in appearance. A new set on my tan V6 and my roommate thought they were brand new. They're 3 yrs old now. Show me a restoration kit that can do that
man, that looks so much better, good job. but i cant believe that Im 13 posts into this thread and not the first one of ya has mentioned it already....whats the story on the 57 BelAir in the background? why have ya been holding out on us? lol
well thats in my girlfriends back garadge we were doing the head light back there. they are a chevy family and they fit 8 cars in that garadge. they have offered it as a meeting place for when ever we want to hold a meeting in pensacola. but on that 57 belair it was a barn find with i believe under 60,000 origional miles my gf's dad bought it at a paint shop because the owner had to go over seas again. they got the car back from the paint shop 6 months ago and the car just got finished last month. ive been helping out with the restore but most of the work was done by her dad. if you take a look at that car there has been alot of work to get the car back to all origional. and for the kits not lasting when ever it does start to fade (hopefully never but we will see ill bring up this thread again all angery and tell how much this kit really stinks because it didnt last but for now it is amazing) my car is not garadge kept so i will really see how long it will last.
I used the 3M kit on sisters car and it worked great. Worth it's weight in gold. I think Blue Magic or someone actually makes a sealer you can use to seal it once you finish.
